The picture below (Guts, Telgemeier) is evidence that Raina knows what she's doing with portraying feelings, like in this case, you can clearly see that these thoughts are always on her mind, day and night, and they bother her which you can see from her facial expression. One positive is that Raina is an author and illustrator, so all the colors portray the exact feelings she wants you to feel. I consider colorfulness to have worked because you can tell what the character is feeling based on the colors in the panel. I believe this portrays feelings extremely well because this book is very colorful. She was speaking about how hard it was to talk about her anxiety, but how easy it was because it was all her experience and it is what she was/ is living every day. Raina has suffered with anxiety since she was a kid, and this one of her hardest books to write, as shown here, “‘In some ways it’s a simpler book, and in some ways it’s the toughest book I’ve ever written.’” (Alter, How Raina Telgemeier Faces Her Fear). It is known for Being honest about Anxiety and Eating Disorders as a twelve-year old.

The work is about trying to get through life when you have anxiety. The topic of this graphic novel is anxiety and phobias. Her book shows what life is like with anxiety, and is especially accurate, as she is speaking from experience and telling her life story. I believe that “Guts”, by Raina Telgemeier is her best yet. This shows me that kids are inspired by her courage, as well as all the other important parts of her books, like her bright colors, or strong feelings. She has inspired children through her many life experiences, as shown in this quote “‘Raina single-handedly created the market for middle-grade graphic memoir,’ said Saylor”(Alter, How Raina Telgemeier Faces Her Fear). Raina Telgemeier’s books are stupendous, all of her books are NYT bestsellers, and she has led a world of bright and colorful graphic novels.
